The famous wine fair VINEXPO took place in Bordeaux this year in mid-June. There were 2350 exhibitors from 42 countries, and professionals arriving from 151 countries – a new record for VINEXPO! The fair is clearly the hub for international wine and spirits business, and Concealed Wines of course had two of our own there: Simon and Calle. They both had a busy few days meeting new and old contacts, and were both happy that the fair did not take

Emma Bill visits Inverse Trade Mission to La Rioja

Emma Bill visits Inverse Trade Mission to La Rioja

Between the 3-5 of June I had the opportunity to visit the Inverse Trade Mission to La Rioja, which was held in the capital of the region, Logroño. After a missed plane due to storm, meeting Keanu Reeves and spending an extra night in Amsterdam I finally arrived to the fair where I had the pleasure to meet various fine Rioja producers. I got to try their different wines, from traditional crianzas,  Old Vines Graciano to modern wines based on

Concealed Wines launches its first aged Rum at Systembolaget - Denizen Merchant’s Reserve

This week was a big week for Concealed Wines, as we launch our very first aged rum at Systembolaget. We are very excited to present: Denizen Merchant’s Reserve Rum by Citizen Spirits. Centuries ago, when the merchants of Amsterdam sailed home from their long journey through the Caribbean trade routes, they discovered that barrels of rum on their ships took on a richer flavor and aroma from what they had tasted at the onset. These Dutch merchants began to experiment

Ebba Rönneskog visits wine region Grevenmacher in Luxembourg

Ebba Rönneskog visits wine region Grevenmacher in Luxembourg

Luxembourg is known to most people as a small country in Europe (the least populated country in the EU actually), however the country is well worth a visit for its elegant Riesling wines. I recently visited the small village of Wormeldange in the district of Grevenmacher, situated in the Mosel valley. The region is famous for its beautiful steep hills and vineyards, and it is the birth place of Luxembourgish wines, mostly white grape varieties including Riesling, Auxerrois and Pinot

Simon Källquist at wine fair FENAVIN Spain 2015

Last week, Simon attended FENAVIN – the Spanish wine industry’s most important global trade fair – in Ciudad Real, Spain. Not only did he get to meet with Spanish producers with great potential, but he also got to experience the Spanish heat wave: 44 ⁰C! A bit of a chock for a Swede who’s used to a slightly lower average temperature in the month of May..! Over 1000 brands were on display at FENAVIN, including an increasing amount of organic

Emma visiting wine producers in Bourgogne

Emma visiting wine producers in Bourgogne

The first weekend in May, I visited some of the wine producers we work with in Burgundy. The weather was not on our side, rain all the time, but the visits were very enjoyable and the landscape unbelievably green. First out was our dear Bertrand at the Château de Beauregard in Fuisse. They produce delicious Puoilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran and make different Beaujolais Cru in their cellar. Then followed the grand Château Meursault where we were received by Nicolas Laine. We went
