About a week ago we all packed our bags here at Concealed Wines and went on our yearly conference; this year to Piedmont. I think we can all agree that Piedmont delivered on so many different levels.

Once we landed in Milan we checked out our rented mini-buss and drove off to our first producer visit:

Grimaldi

In four generations the Grimaldi family has planted grapes in Diano d’Alba. Here you will find: Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo d’Alba, Dolcetto di Diano d’Alba, Barbera d’Alba, Roero Arneis, Gavi, Moscato d’Asti and Langhe Chardonnay. The family produces many different wines all typical for its region and reflecting the region’s unique terroir.

Concealed Wines will be launching Grimaldi’s Dolcetto d’Alba at Systembolaget in December. We will get back to you with more information once the wine has been launched (but you have something to look forward to we can promise you that much!)

After our visit at the vineyard we went and had a fantastic dinner up amongst the hills in the region with a magical view over the vineyards.

After a long trip and first day in Italy we were all happy to go back to the hotel Ascheri in bra, a winery hotel in a very cute and typical Italian village.

Well rested and ready to start day two we begun the day with dividing up into groups and having our yearly conference where we discussed the year that has passed as well as set goals for the coming year. After the conference we once again packed ourselves in our mini-bus and drove off to producer visit number 2:

Cantine Castiôn

The vineyard is located with a fantastic view over the hills of Piedmont. We were warmly welcomed by the producer that had gone all out and first invited us for a very nice aperitivo and then to everyone’s surprise took us on a helicopter ride over the region. It was an unreal experience getting to see Castiglione Tinella and the nearby region from up in the air. We were then invited for a delicious lunch cooked by the wife of the household.

Through the following link you will be able to see a short video from our visit at Catine Castiôn: http://vimeo.com/287226798

If you are curious to try a wine from Castiôn you can buy their sweet, lightly sparkling, grape typical Moscato d’Asti with hints of elderflower, honey, pear and lime at Systembolaget. Click here for more information where you can find the closest monopoly store with a bottle.

Very full and content we drove off to our producer visit number 3:

Negretti

A very beautiful, modern and well looked after vineyard located between Roddi and la Morra. We had the pleasure to meet with the brothers Negretti: Massimo and Ezio who are running the vineyard together. We first had a guided tour in their winery and then they took us through a tasting of their collection including: Langhe Chardonnay, Barbera d’Alba, Nebbiolo d’Alba, as well as a broad range of Barolos.

You will be able to find Negretti’s Barolo DOCG Bricco Ambrogio 2006, Barolo, Barolo DOCG Bricco Ambrogio 2006, Dada´Langhe Chardonnay at selected restaurants in the Stockholm area. If you are interested to find out more, feel free to get in touch!

Last but not least we went to our producer visit number four during our last day in Italy:

Fabrizio Fabiano di Azienda Conzia

When we parked our mini-buss outside of Fabrizio’s house we were all amazed by the beautiful view; vineyards as far as the eye could see. We started the visit with a walk through the steep hills amongst the vineyards to then continue the visit at Fabrizio’s friend’s beautiful house where we were invited for, yet another delicious lunch, cooked by Fabrizio’s wife and daughter.

Concealed Wines are selling Fabrizio’s Dogliani Superiore at Systembolaget. Click here to find out more information regarding where you can find your closest shop with a bottle

After three amazing days in Piedmont we were all also happy to go back home to Stockholm. We really hope to be back soon, and a huge thank you to everyone who made this such an unforgettable experience!

Arrivederci Italia, Grazie Mille!
