Emma Bill and Ebba Rönneskog attends the 'Wines of Macedonia' event at the Macedonian Embassy in Stockholm

Earlier this week, Emma and I attended a ‘Wines of Macedonia’ event at the Macedonian Embassy here in Stockholm. We had the opportunity to represent our producer Ezimit Wines at the event. There were 7 producers present, and it was a busy afternoon with many journalists, bloggers, restaurant owners and consumers present. Ezimit had brought a large selection of their wines, including their: Classic Viognier, Classic Sauvignon Blanc, Classic Pinot Grigio, Classic Cuvee White (Chardonnay and Muscat), Classic Cuvee Red (Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz), Classic Veliki Plavac Mali, Vranec Reserve, Vranec Barrique, Chardonnay Barrique, Muscat Frontignan as well as their their Terra Makedonika.

There were a few wines that stuck out amongst the visitors. Ezimits Vranec Reserve was very popular since it was just launched at the Swedish monopoly Systembolaget on September 1st (to find out where you can get a bottle, follow this link). Vranec Reserve is produced from the Macedonian grape variety Vranec in the most traditional way of wine production. This wine is stored in French oak barrels for 18 months, which gives the wine its complex and fine character. A well balanced wine with an irresistible creamy, fruity taste. The wine can be enjoyed straight away, or kept for a few years in order to reach its full potential! The wine would match well with red meats or cheese.

A second wine that was very popular during the event was the newest edition to the Ezimit range: Terra Makedonika. The wine has a grape variety of: 60 % Vranec, 20 % Plavac Mali, and 20 % Cabernet Sauvignon and has spent 12 months in French oak barrels. What makes this wine extra special is that the wine maker has added herbs to the wine during the process of making the wine. A very expressive peppery and black fruit nose, as well as an intense character of dark cherries, plum and a warm liquorice notes.

We would truly recommend you to try some Macedonian wines if you haven’t already! Very good quality wine for a good price 🙂

Cheers!
