We are looking for a classic west coast IPA where both malt and bitterness are more more prominent than in today's more modernized west coast IPA. The hop profile should accommodate tones that go to pickled orange / grapefruit, stone fruit, pine needles, resin and grass clippings, rather than today's more modern tropical fruit. There should be a clear maltiness in aroma, taste and finish. The color should be golden yellow to copper colored. The bitterness should be medium to high.
