ALKO’s Alternative concept
Alko’s new scheme highlighting alcoholic beverages with recognised sustainability and ethical certifications.
- Covers three areas:
- Cultivation (brown) – environmental impact of farming: soil, water, biodiversity, fertilizers.
- Production (violet) – energy use, climate impact, packaging, waste, water treatment.
- Working conditions (orange) – fair labour, wages, safety, human rights.
- Colour codes are shown on price tags in stores for quick consumer guidance.
- Aims to increase transparency, help consumers make informed choices, and encourage producers to adopt broader sustainability certifications.Organic
